My New Favourite Future Bride

Who cares if I will be waiting a good 25-30 years to shoot little Ava’s wedding, it will be worth it. LOL. This little princess is going to make the most beatiful bride one day.  In June this year however, Ava is going to be the cutest little flower girl at Andy and Tess’s wedding. So she has 4 short months to perfect her shakey little walk.

Ava came over on Saturday and played in front of my camera for a couple of hours. She was such an angel, we ended up with so many stunning pictures that there are too many for one blog post. Therefore I am declaring this week – All AVA Week – Check back each day this week for a few photos from each location we shot.

The ones below were actually taken at the very end of our shoot in the parking basement.

For my photographer friends. I have little Ava lit with an sb800 and a grid spot from camera left and a gelled sb800 from behind.

Bucks Night!!!

I love shooting engagement sessions. I have so much fun doing them with my clients. If nothing else I find the wedding goes so much smoother after we have done an engagement shoot because the bride and groom have seen how stunning the engagment photos were, they are so much more relaxed and confident in front of the camera on their wedding day.

One of the other “perks” for me is on occasion after spending the day with the bride and groom to be, I get invited to attend the grooms bucks night, which is always a good time. Normally pictures from these evenings cannot be posted to protect the innocent LOL. However at Jason’s bucks night we started at the Kingston Park Raceway racing karts.

This is definitely my idea of a good time, I had a blast. Though it was very challenging, as I decided to try and get some good shots……. while I was driving!!!

These images were shot with a 10.5mm fish eye lens so I didn’t have look through the view finder – set to manual focus at infinity – shutter priority at an 80th of a second – then I just held the wheel with my left hand, pointed the camera in the general direction with my right hand and shot away. You will be pleased to know all drivers and camera equipment survived, despite an occasional off track excursion and an introduction to the tire barrier.

(Sadly, never yet have I been invited along on the hens night….hmm… what do you girls get up to?)

At the start and end of every day…

This is now how I am starting and ending every day, swimming for 20 minutes. I have always loved the water. I never actually realised how much until I spent a year living in land locked Indiana. I love looking at it, being on it, immersing myself in it. There is something so calm and refreshing about being surrounded every day in everyway by H20.

I use to love long showers, they were my happy place, where I got creative, set goals and solved the worlds problems all at once. Now that I have access to a lap pool, I can do all that and get the blood pumping, talk about productive LOL.

For my photographer friends. The first two images are HDR photographs. Each image is five different exposures merged into one using photomatix pro.

Education and Inspiration

I attended a photographers luncheon today in Brisbane.  The surprise guest speaker was the uber talented, internationally renowned, wedding photographer and entrepeneur, Jerry Ghionis.  Jerry was very generous with his time and knowledge and gave a presenation that was both informative and inspirational.

Photography, as with life, is all about learning and improving each and every day. A big thank you to Pam from ThatsMe Photography for organizing the event.

And as a post is always boring with out a picture – here is another one from Paul and Rachael’s wedding at Avica.
